It is great having a mountain in your backyard

I love pulling in to my subdivision. Just as you turn in you have this up close and in person veiw of Sawnee Mountain.

According to my mother-in-law, it wasn't always a mountain. It was five feet short from being considered a "mountain". So, I guess it was "Sawnee Hill"?

Her 1st grade class didn't like that so the whole school, armed with wheelbarrows (and I'm sure some dads), trudged to the top of Sawnee Hill and piled up five feet of mountain-sized dirt.

Sawnee Mountain was born.

Did you know there was a Cuba, GA?

I would love to sit down and have a conversation with Mrs. Roy Redd, maybe over a glass of sweet tea... I bet she could tell some great stories. And for some reason I bet she could also make a mean coconut cake. You have to be over 75 to make a mean coconut cake. Yes, I am an expert. It is 75.
